The healthcare system, comprising more than 2,000 clinicians and managing over half a million patient visits each year, seeks to alleviate the burden of documentation and bolster its innovation strategy in paediatric care.
During the pilot programme, clinicians at Seattle Children’s reported an average reduction of 79% in documentation effort, with Abridge assisting in 72% of eligible encounters.
The AI platform was chosen for its capacity to address paediatric-specific challenges, including the monitoring of developmental milestones, managing interactions among multiple caregivers, and dealing with complex types of visits.
Seattle Children’s senior vice-president, chief digital officer and chief AI and information officer Dr Zafar Chaudry said: “We wanted a tool that could free our clinicians to support our highest priority—delivering high-quality, compassionate care to every child and family who needs us.

Abridge CEO and co-founder Dr Shiv Rao said: “Seattle Children’s has been an exceptional partner in helping us shape the future of paediatric documentation.
“Together, we’re going deep building specialty-specific paediatric notes, refining our workflows based on clinician feedback, and delivering smarter documentation that meets the highest standards of care.”
