The tie-up comes as both the companies aims to provide “equitable” and “accessible” healthcare.

By integrating UH’s “innovation-forward” health care model with the safety-oriented generative AI agents of Hippocratic AI, the partnership aims to streamline patient care across various services.

The initial implementation of these AI agents in pharmacy-related patient support has shown “promising” early results, stated the health system.

This has led to plans for broadening their use in preventative screening calls, patient education, and appointment assistance.

Hippocratic AI CEO and co-founder Munjal Shah said: “We are eager to collaborate with University Hospitals to support their mission of improving lives through healing, discovery, and teaching.

“Our agents are designed to be empathetic, safe, and effective extensions of the care team delivering personalised support at scale, when and where patients need it most.”

Leveraging its UH Ventures platform, UH spearheaded initiatives such as Hospital@Home and translational research, among others.

The integration of Hippocratic AI’s agents is in line with UH’s aim to responsibly incorporate AI into care delivery.

These agents have been vetted for safety, including assessments by medical professionals, health system partner evaluations, and continuous performance monitoring.

Hippocratic AI’s Polaris Constellation safety architecture ensures dependable patient interactions.

UH chief operating officer Paul R Hinchey said: “Hippocratic AI shares our values around safety, compassion, and putting patients first.

“Together, we’re reaching patients between visits, closing communication gaps, and helping clinicians spend more time practising at the top of their licence.”

Last month, UH initiated a remote patient monitoring (RPM) programme, powered by HealthSnap, to improve care for patients struggling with uncontrolled hypertension.
