AdventHealth Tampa has announced the appointment of Erik Wangsness as its new president and CEO.

Wangsness previously served in the same roles at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel.

Effective 15 December, he will be reporting directly to AdventHealth West Florida president and CEO David Otatti.

Otatti said: "Erik is a consummate servant leader who I believe will continue to enhance our quality of care, expanding access to services and building on the strong foundation established by the team at AdventHealth Tampa.

“I know that Erik will uphold and build our mission, leading our teams to provide uncommon compassion and whole-person care to each person who walks through those doors."

During his tenure at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, Wangsness led the development of the facility's Graduate Medical Education programme and oversaw an expansion project that is currently in progress.

He was the former president of the 232-bed Washington Adventist Hospital, which is known for its acuity care in Washington, DC, US.

His career also includes leadership positions at Jellico Community Hospital in Tennessee and UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook in Illinois.

At AdventHealth Littleton in Colorado, he served as the executive director of the foundation.

Wangsness said: “I am excited and honoured for the opportunity to serve AdventHealth Tampa and the surrounding community, working alongside the incredible leaders, physicians and team members to provide whole-person care.

“Together, we will make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve.”

Wangsness holds a Bachelor's degree in economics and a Master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota.

His commitment to the industry extends beyond his executive positions, as he currently serves on the Pasco Economic Development Council board.

In addition, he has made contributions to the Healthcare Council of the National Capital Area and the Maryland Hospital Association Council on Financial Policy.

Moreover, he has contributed his expertise as a trustee of Washington Adventist University.
