Agiliti has introduced a multi-acuity bed frame, Essentia, aiming to support a wide range of patients in various hospital environments.

Essentia gives healthcare professionals the flexibility to customise care depending on patient risk profiles.

It also incorporates safety features, such as SlideRail, to facilitate patient mobility and reduce caregiver risk.

Agiliti CEO Tom Leonard said: “The Essentia bed by Agiliti is tailor-made for more flexible and versatile patient care, backed by more than three decades of design innovation and clinical service expertise.”

The bed's SlideRail feature offers up to 39 inches of clear egress space and can flex into three positions, providing additional support and security as patients move in and out of the bed.

The handholds are adjustable and accommodate patient size and mobility, aiming to lessen the injury risk to caregivers during patient movement.

In addition, the on-bed SafeGlance icons with lighting provide caregivers with a quick overview of critical safety features.

Additional features of the Essentia bed include a deck height of 11.5 inches from the floor, one of the lowest available for multi-acuity bed frames.

This feature, along with the SlideRail, assists hospitals in minimising fall risks.

Essentia also introduces RevTrend 20, a reverse Trendelenburg angle to encourage early mobility therapy, allowing patients to begin weight-bearing exercises sooner with the reinforced footboard.

The PowerBrake with AutoLock feature provides three locations on the bed for caregivers to set the wheels to brake, steer, or neutral with one button press.

AutoLock automatically activates the brakes after 60 seconds when the bed is plugged in, securing it in place.

The MotionStop 360 feature detects obstructions around the bed frame's base and stops the bed's descent to prevent injuries or equipment damage.

Patients and caregivers will benefit from the powered foot extension, which allows the bed deck length to be customised from 80in to 88in.

Essentia's flat deck also ensures compatibility with a wide array of support surfaces while higher side rails ensure that even deeper air surfaces comply with safety standards for increased patient acuity.
