Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital construction in South Miami, Florida, US, has reached a milestone with the topping out ceremony, indicating structural completion.

Anticipated to open in 2026, the hospital will provide specialised care for patients with severe injuries and illnesses.

The new Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a collaborative effort between Baptist Health South Florida, Anchor Health Properties, and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, is set to feature 62 private inpatient rooms, expandable by an additional 30 rooms.

This three-storey, 100,335ft² facility will cater to a range of conditions, including brain and spinal cord injuries, as well as select oncology, cardiac, orthopaedic, and stroke patients.

Anchor Health Properties development senior vice-president Richard Paddock said: “As we reach this key point in construction, we are proud to honour the collective work of our partners, Baptist Health South Florida and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, as well as the full project team who are helping to bring this important facility to life.

“This hospital will be a place of hope and healing, designed to help patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence in a setting that puts their well-being first.”

The freestanding rehabilitation hospital will be equipped with adaptive units and multidisciplinary therapy gyms, incorporating therapeutic technologies.

It will also offer outdoor spaces to assist patients in their transition back to daily life.

A three-storey parking garage with 179 spaces will provide access for patients and visitors.

Robins & Morton is serving as the general contractor, in collaboration with the appointed architect ESa, to bring this project to fruition.

Robins & Morton operations manager Johnathan Peavy said: “This milestone signifies an important step in the construction of this facility and the future services it will bring to our South Miami community.

“We look forward to the next phase and ultimately the lasting, positive impact this project will have for many years to come.”
