The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) Charity, the League of Friends of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital, and Lingen Davies Charity jointly launched the Transforming Princess Royal (PRH) hub at the main entrance of the hospital in the UK.

The hub will act as a central point for visitors, staff, and patients to learn about the ongoing Hospitals Transformation Programme, including opportunities for public participation.

A key project in the upcoming years includes the establishment of a county-wide Respiratory Centre at PRH, which will cater to patients across the region.

A major focus for the coming years is the development of a county-wide Respiratory Centre at Princess Royal Hospital, aimed at serving patients throughout the region.

The Lingen Davies Charity plans to utilise the hub to promote its £5m ($6.7m) Sunflower Appeal, aimed at enhancing local cancer care.

This initiative includes the development of a Lingen Davies Chemotherapy Centre at PRH, which is scheduled to be operational by 2029.

SaTH CEO Jo Williams said: “We are really grateful to all our charitable partners who will be supporting this new hub.

“This welcoming space, at the entrance of PRH, will help us to continue to build relationships and trust with our patients, visitors and staff who use and work in our hospital every day.

“We have exciting plans to transform Princess Royal Hospital to become a thriving centre of excellence for our local communities.”

Telford MP Shaun Davies said: “The opening of this new hub marks another important investment in our NHS here in Telford. It’s all part of our ongoing work to reduce waiting lists and bring more services into the PRH to provide the best possible care that our community deserves.

“I’m incredibly proud to support Lingen Davies and their inspiring £5m Sunflower Appeal, which will expand local cancer services. Their plans for a new Chemotherapy Centre at PRH will be life-changing, and for the first time ever, Telford will have its own cancer treatment centre.

“Local hospital services are the backbone of our communities, and this hub offers a dedicated space for patients, staff, and visitors to have their say in shaping the future of care at PRH.”
