US-based rehabilitative healthcare provider ClearSky Health has announced plans for a medical rehabilitation hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

The ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Eau Claire is due to open next year and will be the company's 16th facility in the US.

The 36-bed site aims to deliver specialised care to more than 650 patients each year, focusing on recovery from various disabling conditions.

It will treat patients with disabilities resulting from incidents such as strokes, brain injuries and spinal injuries, as well as illnesses such as Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis.

The 45,000ft² facility's development is expected to create around 100 jobs in the region.

ClearSky Health CEO Darby Brockette said: "Our goal is to improve the well-being of individuals in the region by addressing a gap in post-acute healthcare services.

"ClearSky Eau Claire will complement existing acute care services by allowing patients to remain near their homes to receive a higher level of treatment needed to help them maximise their recoveries, regain independence, and return to their homes.

"By offering this advanced care close to home, we'll help patients and their families avoid the logistical, financial, and emotional concerns of travelling, taking time off from work, or staying overnight out of town while a loved one receives treatment.”

The interdisciplinary healthcare team at ClearSky Eau Claire will comprise physicians, rehabilitation nurses, therapists, case managers and other healthcare professionals.

The hospital will offer a rehabilitative gym, private rooms, a dining area, a simulated home environment for daily living activities, and an outdoor therapeutic courtyard.

ClearSky Health currently runs 12 medical rehabilitation hospitals across several US states, with four additional facilities in the planning stages.

Last year, the company announced plans to build a medical rehabilitation hospital in Rockwall County, Texas, which will have 36 beds and provide care for several medically complex conditions.
