Enclara Pharmacia and FireNote have introduced a new feature, designed to streamline the electronic medical record (EMR) transition process for hospices.

This enhancement enables new FireNote clients to directly download patient medication profiles from Enclara into the patient records on FireNote's platform, putting an end to the requirement for manual data entry and lessening potential errors.

It also reduces reconciliation efforts during EMR transitions.

Enclara Pharmacia CEO Mark Morse said: “This collaboration with FireNote sets a precedent for the hospice industry, showing what is possible when technology providers collaborate to solve real-world challenges.

“By addressing the challenges of EMR transitions, we’re empowering clinicians to devote more time to patient care rather than administrative tasks. This innovation speaks to our ongoing commitment to improving the hospice experience for staff and patients alike.”

Traditionally, hospices converting to a new EMR system have been burdened with laborious and error-prone processes involving patient medication data.

Staff were required to input this data manually, which could lead to duplication and necessitate further reconciliation.

The Enclara Pharmacia and FireNote collaboration addresses these problems by ensuring that medication profiles are transferred into the new system directly. This approach helps in retaining data integrity and easing the workload on hospice staff.

FireNote CEO Leonard Jensen said: “The seamless integration of systems removes a significant barrier that has long hindered the ability of hospices to switch to an EMR that better meets their needs.

“At FireNote, we are committed to technology solutions that enhance the ability of hospice professionals to care for their patients. Partnering with Enclara to create this feature is a great example of how collaboration can lead to meaningful industry transformation.”

The initial implementation of this feature has already demonstrated its value, saving hospice staff approximately 40 minutes per patient during the transition period.

In a hospice accommodating an average of 150 patients daily, this amounts to a projected saving of 170 staff hours during a standard fortnightly transition period.

In addition to conserving time, the improvement assists in guaranteeing precision and addressing any possible discrepancies, stated Enclara Pharmacia.
