Australia's New South Wales (NSW) Government has revealed the first glimpse of the latest designs for the Milton Ulladulla Hospital’s A$7.5m ($4.77m) upgrade.

The investment is part of the state government's commitment to enhance health infrastructure and meet the growing healthcare demands of the local population.

NSW health minister Ryan Park said: "The Milton Ulladulla Hospital plays a vital role in delivering essential healthcare services to the Shoalhaven region, ensuring our community can access quality care close to home.

“We’re investing in this upgrade in clinical infrastructure to ensure we continue to meet the needs of this growing community now and into the future and support the incredible work of our dedicated healthcare professionals.”

The upgrade will include a new CT scanner and updated medical imaging facilities, which will improve diagnostic services. These enhancements aim to increase patient access.

Construction of the new medical imaging space and the CT scanner installation is scheduled to begin in mid-2025, after the selection of a building contractor.

The hospital's Cancer Care Centre planning is also underway, and the community will be regularly updated and consulted throughout the process.

Johnstaff is managing the project, with Genus Advisory handling cost management and Jacobs providing architectural services.

In addition to the hospital's upgrade, the NSW government is investing A$438m in the Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment.

This development will help reduce the necessity of patient transfers to Wollongong and Sydney.

Furthermore, more than A$780m is being allocated to the new Shellharbour Hospital and Integrated Services Project, which will expand available health services for Shoalhaven residents.

South Coast Member Liza Butler said: “Our community deserves the very best healthcare services, and this upgrade is part of our commitment to ensuring world-class facilities for patients, their families, and healthcare workers.”
