India-based Fortis Healthcare has announced a partnership with Ekana Group to operate and manage a new super-speciality hospital with 550 beds in the city of Lucknow, near Gomti Nagar.

The facility, upon completion, will offer tertiary care services and introduce advanced medical infrastructure to the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

Ekana Group promoter Uday Sinha said: “We are happy to join hands with one of the leading healthcare chains in India - Fortis Healthcare to develop a leading-edge tertiary care hospital, one that will significantly enhance access to advanced medical services and deliver patient care where it’s most needed.”

This partnership signifies Fortis Healthcare's expansion within the state, adding to its existing network of facilities in Noida and Greater Noida.

Fortis Healthcare managing director and CEO Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi said: "We are delighted to partner with Ekana Group to bring a state-of-the-art tertiary healthcare facility to the heart of Lucknow. Once operational, this new 550-bed super-speciality hospital near Gomti Nagar will significantly enhance access to advanced medical care for the city and its surrounding regions.

“This collaboration marks Fortis Healthcare’s third major presence in Uttar Pradesh, joining our network hospitals in Noida and Greater Noida, and underscores our steadfast commitment to expanding high-quality healthcare across the state.”

Fortis Healthcare's operations span across diagnostics, hospitals and speciality facilities for day care.

The company currently manages 33 facilities, encompassing joint ventures and operations and management establishments, in 11 states. It has more than 5,700 beds that are operational and 400 diagnostic laboratories.

This February, the company entered into definitive agreements to purchase Shrimann Superspecialty Hospital in Punjab, India.

Last year, Fortis Healthcare announced its intention to acquire a 31% stake in its diagnostic division, Agilus Diagnostics.
