Spanish maternal and paediatric hospital Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona (HSJD) has started integrating advanced data into its approach to paediatric care using the Denodo Platform.
The Denodo Platform is designed to bring together clinical insights across systems to improve patient outcomes and care delivery.
By unifying real-time data across systems, it aims to enable clinicians to handle high patient volumes while prioritising home-based care, allowing children to spend more time on home recovery.
HSJD currently manages more than 25,000 hospital admissions, 115,000 emergency cases and 200,000 outpatient consultations a year, with plans to expand its care model.
It’s ‘liquid hospital’ concept emphasises a fluid and adaptable care strategy that delivers patient-centric care.
HSJD digital strategy and data director Dr Francesc García Cuyàs said: “Denodo equips us to maintain stricter monitoring of patients admitted to the hospital's critical care units through real-time score calculations, allowing us to proactively identify complex clinical situations.”
The Denodo Platform serves as HSJD's logical data management layer, providing real-time monitoring and AI-powered analytics and offering data updates every 30 seconds.
This enables clinicians to access complete patient data quickly, which is essential for preventing emergencies.
HSJD said that before it began using Denodo's secure data platform, vital patient information was spread across disconnected systems, causing delays in decision-making.
The hospital has implemented the platform in partnership with healthcare technology partner Blowww and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
