MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center in California, US, has announced the expansion of its Orthopedic & Spine Institute with the new Back & Neck Health Center for interventional treatments.

Spearheaded by pain medicine specialist Dr Andrew Hanna, the facility aims to provide comprehensive treatments such as minimally invasive care and non-surgical procedures for a wide range of spine conditions.

Back & Neck Health Center is a component of the MemorialCare Orthopedic & Spine Institute's Spine Health Center and is designed to streamline the experience for those suffering from neck and back pain.

Patients will be assisted by a healthcare coordinator in navigating the care system, coordinating referrals, and ensuring timely access to the necessary treatments.

Located within the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Pavilion, the Back & Neck Health Center is situated in a multi-speciality clinic area that caters to various requirements of patients, extending beyond care for cancer.

The centre offers a multidisciplinary approach to conservative spinal treatment, centralising services in one outpatient location.

Patients at the facility will be sent straight to surgeons without initially considering suitable minimally invasive alternatives.

Dr Hanna said: "This health centre ensures patients are seen by the right provider at the right time—with a team approach that includes pain specialists, physical therapists, and surgeons working together."

The new centre also aligns with evolving insurance needs that often mandate conservative treatments before approving surgical procedures.

It supports primary care physicians by managing early-phase care and enables spine surgeons to concentrate on more intricate surgical cases.

For patients who do not find relief from conservative treatments, the centre facilitates referrals to the Orthopedic & Spine Institute’s expert surgeons for additional assessment.
