The Joint Commission and Palantir Technologies have partnered to enhance patient safety and healthcare standards.

Established in 1951, the Joint Commission aims to improve healthcare for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders.

The partnership is designed to reshape how healthcare providers collect and utilise accreditation information. It aims to help monitor quality levels and enhance patient care results.

Central to the initiative is the application of Palantir’s AI and data analysis tools.

These resources are expected to support healthcare bodies in running more efficient operations. The emphasis lies on overseeing quality measures linked to certification and accreditation.

Palantir’s advanced AI platform will be employed to refine the certification procedures. This cooperation intends to simplify workflows and make data use more effective.

Improvements in patient safety and healthcare services are among the anticipated outcomes.

The project also targets better working conditions for staff and improved care for patients. Standardisation and efficiency in processes are expected to be key achievements.

The integration of AI aims to generate clear benefits across the health sector.

The Joint Commission president and CEO Jonathan Perlin said: “Leveraging AI and advanced data analytics will help us better understand the links between the care process and measured outcomes necessary for a step change in clinical operations and performance.

“Palantir’s emerging leadership in healthcare transformation make them the ideal partner to support data-driven improvement and agile product development that reduces provider burden and enhances the quality of patient care.”

Palantir’s tools are already being used by organisations such as the Cleveland Clinic. Their technologies are claimed to have improved the operational performance in these healthcare settings.

Advantages have included reduced delays for patients and enhanced treatment decisions. AI has also assisted in streamlining the handling of payment and reimbursement systems.

These developments have contributed to higher levels of patient satisfaction.

Palantir Technologies co-founder and CEO Alex Karp said: “The Joint Commission is committed to building the accreditation and certification process of the future, today.

“This work will improve global health outcomes by utilising AI to drive performance improvements around the world.”
