Not-for-profit facility St Joseph Mercy Hospital (SJMH) has renewed and expanded its strategic alliance with the Joint Independent Providers Association (JIPA) Network to improve medical care access for patients in Guyana and the wider global population.

This development marks a step forward in the decade-long collaboration between the two entities, primarily aiming to provide overseas treatment access.

With this renewed agreement, healthcare services and technology are set to be brought to Guyana via SJMH.

SJMH CEO Enoch Gaskin said: “We are delighted to extend and deepen this ten-year partnership with JIPA.

“As our hospital celebrates over 80 years of compassionate service, this collaboration helps ensure that our patients have access to global standards of care right here in Guyana and beyond. Together, we are building a future where local excellence meets international innovation.”

The latest partnership enables SJMH patients to access JIPA's global provider network, which includes more than 300,000 medical professionals, speciality centres, and hospitals in Latin America, the US and the Caribbean.

This collaboration facilitates expert clinical oversight, enhanced care coordination, pricing that is pre-negotiated, and logistical support for patients during their treatment.

JIPA Network CEO Dr Kester Nedd said: “This partnership represents our shared vision for patient-centred, globally connected healthcare.

“We are proud to continue working with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, a pillar of care in Guyana, to help bring advanced treatment options to local patients and to strengthen the country’s healthcare ecosystem for the long term.”

With more than 20 years of experience, the US-based JIPA Network specialises in aiding patients in the Caribbean and Latin America in accessing international specialised care.

It helps patients benefit from referrals, medical travel, and health system integration.

SJMH provides a range of medical services, including surgery, emergency care, diagnostics, and inpatient treatment.

The move is in line with the objectives of both SJMH and JIPA Network to make quality healthcare affordable, with improved accessibility.
