St Croix Hospice has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the hospice operations of Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) in north-west and south-west Wisconsin, US.

The transaction, pending regulatory approval, is set to be finalised later this quarter, further solidifying the collaboration between the two entities in Midwest healthcare.

MCHS Wisconsin vice-president Richard Helmers said: “Over the past several years, we’ve built a strong collaborative relationship with St. Croix Hospice, grounded in a shared commitment to compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care.

“The recent transition of the MCHS Mankato hospice programme to St Croix Hospice was thoughtful and patient-centric, giving us confidence in this next step.” 

St Croix Hospice operates over 85 locations in the Midwest and is staffed by local care teams.

The organisation has a long-standing history of providing hospice care to MCHS patients.

St Croix Hospice chief clinical officer Mandy Cogswell said: “The ongoing collaboration between St Croix Hospice and MCHS has been seamless for patients and families due to an aligned focus on clinical excellence and innovation, which puts the needs of patients at the forefront of all we do.” 

This move follows the recent acquisition of the MCHS Mankato hospice programme, representing the second instance that St Croix Hospice has secured a hospice programme originating from a health system.

This follows its acquisition of programmes in Iowa and Nebraska in the final quarter of 2024.

As the acquisition process unfolds, St Croix Hospice is committed to collaborating with MCHS teams to ensure a streamlined patient transition.
