Sunway Medical Centre in Bandar Sunway has become Malaysia’s first private hospital to open a Children’s Emergency Department, reported The Malaysian Reserve.

Located in the newly opened Tower D, the department provides specialised care and treatment for babies, children, and teenagers.

It consists of three zones – green, yellow, and red – offering different levels of care.

The department features dedicated rooms for children with asthma, is equipped with nebulizers and close monitoring. Its red zone features advanced medical equipment for resuscitation and close monitoring.

The hospital aims to deliver clinical excellence and operational efficiency with this specialised emergency department.

The paediatric unit’s team of doctors and nurses are trained in various sub-specialties.

The hospital  offers a range of facilities, including radiology services with advanced imaging technologies, such as CT scanners, X-rays, and ultrasounds.

Among the future plans of the hospital include the establishment of paediatric clinics, a Child Development Centre, a children’s ward, paediatric intensive care unit (ICU), and a high dependency unit (HDU).

Sunway Medical Centre aims to expand its bed capacity from 616 to more than 1,000, and enhance its clinical services in the country.
