Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center has announced plans to construct a new medical building in the Boone County city of Union, Northern Kentucky, US.
The medical building will feature a large primary care practice and have integrated behavioural health counsellors and a lab to expedite test results.
It will combine paediatric primary and specialty care and become the first of its kind in Northern Kentucky for Cincinnati Children’s.
The new building will also include access to specialty care along with space to accommodate different types of clinics.
The project will involve a total initial investment of about $10m that includes the purchase of about 6.4 acres from the developers of Union Promenade, a mixed-use development which is currently under construction on U.S. 42 in Union.

The new medical building will initially be 25,000ft2 with scope to accommodate future expansion.
Cincinnati Children’s president and CEO Dr Steve Davis said: “We’re making this investment so that the children of Northern Kentucky can receive world-class healthcare even closer to their homes.
“While the focus will be on primary care, we will also offer a variety of subspecialty care options.”
The Union location will include registered nurses, speech pathologists, medical assistants, advanced practice providers, physicians, mental health counselors, and support staff.
Construction work on the new building is scheduled to begin next year.
The Cincinnati Children’s Union Primary Care practice anticipates to begin operations in 2024.
Union Mayor Larry Solomon said: “Cincinnati Children’s will be an important part of Union Promenade, enabling families with children to receive the highest-quality medical care right in our own community.
“The City Commission is committed to maintaining the small-town appeal of Union while ensuring that we provide access to such vital services.”
