US-based Allina Health has announced its partnership with Evidently, a clinical data intelligence platform, to process millions of patient encounters each year.

This collaboration aims to reduce cognitive demands on clinicians while improving care quality and financial accuracy.

Clinicians at Allina Health can utilise Evidently’s evidence-based AI tools for summarisation and documentation, which retrieve critical patient information from records.

By minimising the need for time-consuming manual reviews, these tools enhance decision-making and ensure accurate documentation, supporting institutional quality goals and proper reimbursement for services, according to Evidently.

The partnership will see Evidently available for all care settings at Allina Health.

Clinicians will benefit from advanced chart summarisation features, including ‘Ask Evidently,’ an AI chat interface integrated into the electronic health record (EHR) system, along with tools for drafting notes and appeals.

Allina Health chief digital and information officer David Ingham said: “Allina Health wants to be on the leading edge of providing the right tools to support our providers without disrupting how they work day-to-day.

“These support tools allow our providers to spend less time in the EHR and more time with the patient.”

Evidently’s platform, developed over 15 years of research in deep learning and large language models, operates within an organisation’s EHR to index both structured and unstructured data, such as clinical notes and scanned documents.

It provides tailored summaries for various workflows, including pre-charting, health maintenance, and clinical documentation improvement.

These summaries are embedded into clinicians’ processes, reducing cognitive strain while enhancing care quality and ensuring accurate reimbursement.

Evidently founder and CEO Feng Niu said: “We’re united in our commitment to resolve the inherent challenges posed by fragmented clinical data, burdensome documentation, and the ever-present issue of limited clinician time.

“This partnership is not only crucial for improving patient care and provider wellness, but also for building a financially sustainable future through better documentation.”

Healthcare providers across the US leverage Evidently’s compliant, evidence-based AI platform to reduce time spent in EHR systems and recover substantial unrealised reimbursement.

In 2023, Allina Health partnered with Chicago’s Epic-based virtual care company KeyCare to provide patients with quality virtual care.
