Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) has entered a collaboration with digital health solutions provider Vital to introduce an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered patient experience app.
The digital health offering is aimed at enhancing the transparency and clarity for patients and families in the paediatric emergency department.
The app can be accessed through ‘MyVisit’ pathway of CHLA and is powered by Vital’s ERAdvisor.
It offers updates on various aspects of the patient’s care journey, including wait times, laboratory and imaging results, and information related to discharge and provides patient education on a real-time basis.
The solution is designed to be a personal digital companion for families during emergency visits.
The app is accessible on any device without the need for downloading or registering, ensuring ease of use for families seeking medical attention.

By GlobalDataUpon arrival at the emergency department, families will receive a text invitation to access the secure web-based interface of “MyVisit”.
This platform keeps them informed about their child’s status, including their location within the department, lab and imaging status updates, and any changes in care.
The app also offers personalised wait time estimates and patient education in multiple languages, including English and Spanish, empowering caregivers with the information needed to make informed decisions.
CHLA is offering the app free of charge to all emergency department patients.
Vital’s advanced AI technology simplifies complex health record data into user-friendly interfaces that engage over one million patients annually.
With Vital, patients and their families can easily track progress toward discharge, request services, set goals, view lab results, share health status updates, book follow-up care, and more, all without the need for downloads or passwords.
CHLA vice-president and chief digital and transformation officer Omkar Kulkarni said: “Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is committed to creating a compassionate and welcoming healing environment, and we recognise the value in bringing personalised, innovative digital tools to enhance the patient family experience.
“Parents and caregivers can sometimes be anxious when their children are in the emergency department, but transparent communication and real-time updates can help to alleviate some of that anxiety.”
