Ground has been broken on a new long-term care home at Village Green in Greater Napanee in the Canadian province of Ontario.
Village Green is a redeveloped long-term care home in Lennox and Addington County.

The project is part of a C$6.4bn ($4.8bn) pledge from the government of Ontario to construct over 30,000 new beds by 2028 as well as 28,000 upgraded long-term care beds across the province.
To be constructed at a new location in Greater Napanee, the new care home will feature 66 upgraded and 62 new beds in private and basic rooms.
It will also include large resident common areas, along with bedrooms, lounges and dining and activity areas.
Ontario Long-Term Care minister Paul Calandra said: “Congratulations to Village Green on their ground-breaking for an upgraded, modernised home. Our government is fixing long-term care and a key part of that plan is building modern, safe and comfortable homes for our seniors.

This redevelopment of Village Green is anticipated to complete in spring 2025.
The government is also supporting another project at Lennox & Addington County General Hospital in Greater Napanee.
Both the projects together will offer 190 new and 66 upgraded long-term care beds.
Last month, the Ontario government announced plans to invest C$330m per year in paediatric health care across the province.
