MEDITECH has introduced a new set of application programme interfaces (APIs) that align with the United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) version 4 (v4), advancing interoperability standards in the healthcare industry.
The latest version incorporates additional data elements that enhance the current profiles for laboratory and medication results.
It introduces new categories of health assessments concerning alcohol consumption, substance use, and physical activity. In addition, it features components that address patient preferences regarding treatment and the overall care experience.
These enhancements aim to facilitate more precise and nuanced data analysis within the healthcare sector.
MEDITECH Interoperability and Market Strategy senior director Mike Cordeiro said: “The data standards incorporated through USCDI v4 enable app developers to offer providers and patients greater clinical richness in the patient information accessible through their products.
“By ensuring seamless access to standardised patient health data across healthcare systems and vendor solutions, the new standard helps care teams provide more personalised, holistic patient care.”

By GlobalDataThe MEDITECH APIs now support all the new USCDI v4 elements and are available in its Greenfield Workspace environment at no cost to vendors.
This initiative allows developers to explore and integrate the new data elements.
The company’s proactive approach to USCDI v4 precedes regulatory requirements, highlighting its dedication to interoperability standards, such as USCDI+ Cancer, USCDI, and the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA).
MEDITECH also will support future versions of USCDI when the associated standards are finalised.
The company plans to offer support for USCDI v5 later in the year and intends to release updates annually.
