Geneia has signed a strategic partnership with Chicago-based Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA) to offer skills-based population health management training to IHA’s 209 hospitals and 50 health system members.

Health management programmes will be delivered by the Geneia Institute, an education arm of Geneia and company that specialises in the development of advanced clinical, analytics, and technical solutions for healthcare.

Geneia Institute will also serve as an expert resource for IHA’s population health learning and action network initiative and their growing healthcare system physician group, #ILDocsLead.

IHA chief health officer Jay Bhatt said: "Our hospitals are in the midst of a shift to value-based care and simultaneously improving care, enhancing the health of their patients, returning joy to the profession and lowering costs.

"Our leaders, physicians, nurses, and other staff need new tools and skills to transform healthcare delivery."

"Our leaders, physicians, nurses, and other staff need new tools and skills to transform healthcare delivery.

"That is why we are excited to partner with Geneia to offer cutting-edge population health and patient engagement courses to our members."

The Geneia Institute created a range of courses to help hospitals, health systems, physicians and their teams gain the skills they need to provide a value-based, population health management environment, including motivational interviewing, patient engagement for effective disease management, and the changing role of the medical assistant in the delivery of team-based care.

Geneia chief executive officer Mark A Caron said: "At Geneia, we understand that hospitals and health systems are being challenged to change rapidly from fee-for-service to a focus on value.

"IHA’s commitment to help their hospitals and health system members develop new skills to improve health and tools to meet changing healthcare needs is exceptional."
