Luxembourg-based General Mediterranean Holding (GMH) Group is developing a new Iraqi-German Ibn Hayyan Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq.

Expected to open later in 2015, the project was announced in January 2013.

To be built to meet European and worldwide standards, the new facility will offer advanced medical facilities for residents in the region.

Situated close to the banks of River Tigris, the facility will feature 58,700m² of space that will include 360 beds and several clinics.

It will also include a serviced apartment block and staff building, with plans in place to develop a university college within the grounds.

Mebex Consultants, a healthcare planning, architectural and engineering services consultancy, designed and is supervising the project.
