Rainbow Hospital Partnership, wholly-owned by SNC-Lavalin, has been awarded a public-private partnership contract for the design, construction, commissioning and financing of the new Restigouche Hospital Centre for psychiatric care in New Brunswick, Canada.

The hospital, which will be designed to meet the silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications, will be built by a SNC-Lavalin construction-led joint venture with a wholly owned subsidiary of Bird Construction.

It will house 140 beds in seven inpatient units, and will have facilities for education and research, clinical support, administration and general support services.

Work on the new hospital is already under way. It is scheduled to open in 2014.
