US-based patient safety technology provider Vitalacy has introduced an AI-powered virtual care solution designed to improve patient safety and hospital efficiency through 24/7 remote monitoring.

The virtual care system uses AI to monitor patients in bed continuously and delivers real-time alerts to prevent unattended bed exits.

It is also intended to reduce the occurrence of patient falls and elopements, offering two-way communication to enable healthcare staff to respond quickly to these incidents.

Vitalacy board president and co-founder Bahram Nour-Omid said: “Vitalacy’s Virtual Care platform is a game-changer for the healthcare industry.

“This technology provides healthcare teams with the crucial support they need, ensuring patient safety while enhancing staff productivity.

“We are confident that this solution will have a meaningful impact on patient care and hospital operations, further strengthening Vitalacy as a leader in patient safety technologies.”

Vitalacy said the system offered a distinctive advantage in its risk identification capabilities when compared with traditional methods such as bed alarms or telesitters.

By integrating capabilities such as AI learning, stereo cameras and automated patient bed detection, the solution aims to deliver accurate monitoring with depth perception, minimising false alarms and ensuring timely staff interventions.

In addition to fall prevention, the virtual care solution complements Vitalacy’s existing hand hygiene monitoring solutions, aiming to contribute to a reduction in hospital-acquired infections and an improved patient experience.

Vitalacy CEO and co-founder Janel Raanan said: “The launch of our Virtual Care solution marks a significant milestone in our patient safety offerings.

“By leveraging AI-driven alerts and real-time remote monitoring, we are empowering healthcare providers with the tools they need to prevent falls and improve efficiency.”

Based in Los Angeles, Vitalacy develops solutions designed to improve patient safety, staff efficiency and operational outcomes through the use of AI.
