West Tennessee Healthcare and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital are set to offer specialised paediatric care to the children of West Tennessee in the US, as part of a collaboration.

The West Tennessee Healthcare board gave consent to a resolution approving the collaboration at a meeting.

The two organisations will seek approval from the State of Tennessee next month to develop a paediatric hospital-within-a-hospital licensed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital within Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Said to be the first of its kind in West Tennessee, the hospital is proposed to have paediatric experts from Le Bonheur and West Tennessee Healthcare.

Together, West Tennessee Healthcare and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital will work to improve access to expert paediatric care and develop comprehensive specialty programmes to enhance the health status of the children.

West Tennessee Healthcare president and CEO James (JR) Ross said: “We are so proud of the work we’ve done at West Tennessee Healthcare for many years taking care of children.
