Assemblin has secured an assignment from Skanska to install critical systems at Centralsjukhuset Hospital in Karlstad (New CSK), marking a significant development in the healthcare infrastructure of Värmland, Sweden.

The project is a collaboration between Region Värmland and Skanska.

Assemblin will install the sanitation, heating, cooling, medical gases, sprinkler systems, and alarms, along with the building automation systems, for an order value of approximately Skr60m ($5.46m).

These installations will be carried out as part of an expansion and renovation project at the hospital.

Assemblin has been working with Skanska since 2023 to contribute to the design of specific technical systems in the planning phase and will now also carry out installations during the production stage.

During the initial phase, Skanska signed an agreement with Region Värmland to build a new reception at New CSK. The building will be distributed across eight storeys and cover approximately 14,000m².

This building will also house six floors of hospital operations, a storey for ventilation equipment, and a basement.

Scheduled for completion in June 2027, the project is notable for its stringent requirements regarding flexibility and sustainability.

The hospital will be constructed with a wooden frame.

This construction approach necessitates rigorous fire protection measures, including multiple layers of fire-retardant sheeting and comprehensive sprinkler and alarm systems to ensure the safety of the structure.

Assemblin Heating and Sanitation executive vice-president and division manager Andreas Aristiadis said: “We are very pleased to have been entrusted with this new assignment and are now equipping ourselves to be able to assist the parties involved in the construction of flexible and sustainable healthcare buildings.

“This is a highly stimulating project imposing rigorous demands, and we look forward to developing smart and appropriate installation solutions in close collaboration with other parties.”
