FOXO Technologies’ Big South Fork Medical Center, a critical access hospital in Oneida, Tennessee, US, is set to expand its healthcare offerings by introducing wound care services for both inpatients and outpatients.

The services are anticipated to begin on 2 June 2025, following the reconfiguration of hospital space and the recruitment of key clinical staff.

Big South Fork Medical Center CEO Hal Leftwich said: “We are excited about expanding our service offerings to patients in our communities. Wound care is a vital new service that we will offer to patients as we broaden our overall service offerings.

“This new service will build on our rural hospital that cares for over 600 patients in the emergency room and approximately 300 patients on an outpatient basis monthly.”

The decision to offer wound care services is in response to the increasing demand, especially from diabetic patients who are prone to foot ulcers and post-operative healing complications.

In 2021, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that more than 38 million people have diabetes in the country, with up to 15% suffering from diabetic foot ulcers.

FOXO Technologies operates three subsidiaries, notably Rennova Community Health, Myrtle Recovery Centers, and FOXO Labs.

FOXO Technologies CEO Seamus Lagan said: “We are pleased that our rural hospital is expanding its services that will, in turn, increase revenues and are working closely with hospital management to consider options available to us to further expand our footprint in East Tennessee.”

In June 2024, FOXO Technologies announced agreements to acquire healthcare operations from Rennova Health, encompassing a critical access hospital and a behavioural health services subsidiary.
