Burjeel Holdings, a super-speciality healthcare provider in the MENA region, through its subsidiary Burjeel KSA, has acquired a 100% stake in the Specialist Physiotherapy Center in Makkah.

The SR6.5m ($1.73m) investment is a step to broaden Burjeel's footprint in the region and improve its physiotherapy and rehabilitation offerings.

The Specialist Physiotherapy Center has experienced substantial growth, with a more than twofold revenue increase to SR3.8m from 2021 to 2023.

It caters to a diverse range of needs, including sports injuries, paediatric care, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

The centre is well-positioned to serve Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, providing hotel physiotherapy services.

Its facilities include high-intensity electromagnetic therapy, cryotherapy, laser treatments, a yoga studio, a standalone gym and an educational centre.

Burjeel Holdings group CEO John Sunil said: “This strategic acquisition reflects our commitment to enhancing access to world-class healthcare services across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Recognising Makkah’s status as a primary destination for pilgrims, integrating the Specialist Physiotherapy Center into our network not only enhances our offerings in physiotherapy and rehabilitation but also supports our broader vision to serve both local and international patients and support KSA’s medical tourism ambitions.

“We look forward to enhancing the centre’s capabilities and introducing new services as part of our ongoing efforts to provide innovative and comprehensive care to our patients.”

The acquisition not only strengthens Burjeel’s brand in the Saudi market but also aligns with the group’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

It also plans to enhance the centre’s services, introduce new programmes such as paediatric and neurorehabilitation, and incorporate technologies such as a cryo chamber and the David System for physiotherapy.

The Specialist Physiotherapy Center will become part of Burjeel’s PhysioTherabia network, enhancing the network's capabilities and establishing the centre as a rehabilitation destination in the region.
