US-based Hartford HealthCare has adopted Abridge's AI-powered ambient clinical intelligence platform after an assessment and a pilot programme.
The platform's real-time prior authorisation feature at the point of care aims to minimise the administrative loads associated with clinical documentation.
This partnership between Hartford HealthCare and Abridge will focus on establishing solutions to scale the AI platform across various healthcare professionals within the network, such as physicians, nurses, and advanced practitioners.
Hartford HealthCare's Center for AI Innovation in Healthcare, which collaborates with startups, academic institutions, and corporate partners, underscores the organisation's focus on using AI to improve affordability, access, and health equity.
Hartford HealthCare vice-president and chief clinical innovation officer Barry Stein said: “The notes built from the conversations with clinicians and their patients are the foundation of the patient record, and capturing them effortlessly has an outsized impact on both the patient’s and the clinician’s experience.
“Abridge understands this and their vision is aligned with ours. Together, we are not just keeping pace with where healthcare is going, we are helping to shape it.”
Abridge's enterprise-grade platform has shown impact in multiple healthcare settings, supporting more than 55 specialities and 28 languages, with features such as auditability and hallucination mitigation.
These capabilities have been crucial in the decision to implement the platform system-wide at Hartford HealthCare.
Hartford HealthCare and Abridge also plan to expand their ambient AI partnership to enhance nursing workflows, expedite value-based care, and revenue cycle management.
Earlier this year, Hartford HealthCare entered a collaboration with Israeli health technology company Aidoc to enhance diagnosis speed and care coordination through AI solutions.
