US-based nonprofit healthcare organisation HealthPartners has announced the groundbreaking of its new Lakeview hospital, enhancing healthcare services in the St. Croix Valley, US.

The six-storey, 400,000ft2 hospital will offer a range of expanded specialised services.

These include TRIA Orthopedics Clinic, a family birth centre, a cardiac catheterisation lab, cancer care, and enhanced emergency and critical care.

The construction of the hospital and clinic campus, featuring 97 patient beds, is set to commence this summer and aims to welcome patients by early 2028.

The Stillwater City Council approved the final designs and plans in May this year.

HealthPartners president and CEO Andrea Walsh said: “Our new HealthPartners Lakeview Hospital will be designed with our community’s growth and unique needs in mind.

“Our vision is that it will serve this community well, not in just five years, but in 20, 30 and 50 years down the road.”

The hospital will encompass walking trails that connect to local paths and provide nature views from patient rooms.

Sustainable practices have been incorporated to preserve more than 94% of the wetlands on the site.

Lakeview Hospital president Brandi Lunneborg said: “The empathy and kindness you see and feel when you come to Lakeview Hospital won’t change.

“We’re proud to maintain our incredible culture and the community hospital feel while offering more opportunities to deliver great care and experience to our patients and visitors.”

The hospital's new site, acquired in 2017 at the northeast corner of Manning Avenue and Highway 36, had its design planning paused due to the pandemic but resumed in 2022.

Kraus-Anderson will lead the construction efforts, with a public open house scheduled for August.

Lakeview Hospital is a Level III Trauma Hospital that provides a wide array of services, including maternity care, emergency care, rehabilitation, imaging, cancer care, heart care, and orthopaedics.

Prior to this, HealthPartners announced the development of a new clinic aimed at lessening hospital admissions and helping patients avoid costly emergency department visits.
