Jacobs has been appointed to serve as the owner's programme manager for a paediatric hospital project in Dallas, Texas, US.

The company will offer advisory services across the on-site construction, project management, and inspection phases.

A joint venture between the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Children's Health, the project aims to meet the healthcare requirements of the rising local population.

Jacobs will bring its experience in global programme management to the new campus, which is set to address the expected doubling of the paediatric population by 2050, increasing the bed capacity by 38%.

It will also expand the emergency department space and add new operating rooms.

The new facility will feature Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units, using Jacobs' insights from the delivery of 15 children’s hospital campuses and 50 academic research centres.

Jacobs' executive vice-president Eva Wood said: “Healthcare infrastructure is essential to community wellbeing. It plays a vital role in supporting regional economic vitality by attracting population growth and advancing deeper societal progress. Our experience delivering medical campuses, both in Texas and around the world, underscores the critical role these facilities play, especially for youth and our future.

“As Children’s Health System and UT Southwestern Medical Center look to deliver one of the largest, most transformative paediatric hospitals in the nation, our consulting services will guide the new standard for compassionate care and experience.”

Spanning across three new towers, this campus will contain 552 beds and a foetal care centre to provide advanced foetal and maternal services in the region.

The construction, involving 4.5 million square feet of space, started last year.

In July 2023, Jacobs was appointed by Health Infrastructure New South Wales to design a new mental health facility in Western Sydney, Australia.
