OhioHealth has introduced the Philips EPIQ CVx cardiovascular ultrasound system, a move set to enhance echocardiography capabilities in Van Wert and the communities nearby.

The technology aligns with the standard of cardiac imaging available in larger cities, such as Columbus, ensuring that patients have access to care closer to home.

OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital president Paula Stabler said: “This is the same advanced technology used at larger OhioHealth facilities in Columbus.

“Now, patients in our community can receive the same high-quality care close to home, ensuring they remain comfortable with providers they know and trust.”

The Philips EPIQ CVx system is equipped with FDA-cleared AI applications and advanced diagnostic solutions that streamline the exam process by reducing the time taken. It also improves accuracy and enhance image resolution.

Philips Cardiac Ultrasound general manager David Handler said: “As the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and other conditions continues to rise, early diagnosis and effective treatment are more critical than ever.

“Leveraging automation and AI-based technologies that make echo exams easier, faster and more reproducible, clinicians at OhioHealth Van Wert can effectively and efficiently treat routine and complex cardiac issues, advancing patient care and improving outcomes.”

The introduction of this system signifies an upgrade in the hospital's diagnostic services for various cardiac conditions.

This encompasses congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, coronary disease and heart failure.

OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital Radiology Support Services manager Taylor Dahlinghaus said: “The introduction of 3D imaging is a significant upgrade.

“We’ve always provided echocardiography services, but this new technology improves image clarity and allows us to see detailed views of the heart like never before.”

In August 2024, OhioHealth unveiled a substantial investment for upgrading the surgery facilities at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital in Athens, Ohio.

Additionally, in July 2024, plans were announced for an expansion of the OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital.
