Red Rover Health receives funding to expand operations

The investment is aimed at expanding Red Rover's core integration platform.

Red Rover Health, a company that facilitates healthcare providers in incorporating third-party solutions into their electronic health record (EHR) systems, has secured $4m in seed funding from NewShore Partners to expand its operations.

The investment is also aimed at improving Red Rover's core integration platform by recruiting key talent.

Red Rover CEO John Orosco said: "This funding makes sense for us right now for a couple of reasons.

"First, we have an active working solution deployed in numerous production sites, so this isn't vaporware or an idea on paper. Second, we must take advantage of current momentum in terms of contractual commitments from vendor partners and enterprise deals forthcoming. This capital will help us scale operations, accelerate sales and marketing, and hire more industry rockstars."

The need for EHR integration has been driven by the emergence of ‘best of breed’ third-party software solutions, which clinicians are increasingly demanding for real-time access to patient care information.

Despite this, existing integration solutions, such as HL7 and FHIR, sometimes fall short of fulfilling bi-directional integration needs.

Red Rover's healthcare integration platform addresses these challenges by using RESTful application programming interfaces (APIs) to integrate third-party software apps with designated EHRs, offering secure and predictable access to health system data.

This enables healthcare organisations to make full use of their EHR investments.

NewShore Partners is also set to become a strategic partner to Red Rover.

NewShore director Sowri Krishnan said: "We invest in innovative companies that are bold enough to build solutions for the biggest challenges in healthcare.

"Red Rover Health's platform makes 'best of breed' apps available to clinicians, without health systems undergoing expensive and resource-draining integration projects that hinder innovation. The end result will be better patient outcomes and reduced costs for hospitals and health systems."
