Samsung has introduced the health records feature on its Health app, enabling users to securely manage their health information.

This new feature allows users to directly create and access their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), marking a step in digitising personal healthcare management in India.

The health records feature integrates with India's digital health ecosystem, supporting the government’s Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) project.

Samsung Research Institute Noida managing director Kyungyun Roo said: “This feature empowers users to manage their health history, track progress, and maintain better control over their well-being.”

Samsung's collaboration with Eka Care, an ABDM-certified integrator in India, has been crucial in developing this secure and user-friendly platform.

By registering for an ABHA account via the Samsung Health app using their Aadhaar or mobile number, users can access their medical history, including lab results, prescriptions and hospital visits, all linked to their unique ABHA IDs.

Eka Care co-founder Deepak Tuli said: “At Eka Care, we are thrilled about this partnership with Samsung, as it will significantly accelerate the adoption of ABDM across India. This collaboration is a key step toward building a more connected and efficient healthcare ecosystem in the country.”

The feature allows users to store their health data in ABDM-certified secure health lockers, eliminating the need to maintain physical documents.

Additionally, the app facilitates quicker OPD [outpatient department] services at ABDM-compliant facilities by generating virtual queue tokens through a QR code scan.

The Samsung Health app, protected by the Knox Security Platform, offers various health services such as medication management and sleep tracking.
