Germany’s Universitätsmedizin Göttingen (UMG Göttingen) is set to enhance its enterprise imaging solution by integrating Sectra's AI service, which operates within Microsoft Azure's public cloud environment.

The healthcare provider will be able to incorporate third-party AI applications into clinical operations with the Sectra Amplifier Service, streamlining workflows by running all applications on a single infrastructure.

This not only reduces the complexity of managing multiple systems but also mitigates security risks.

UMG Göttingen radiology senior physician Dr Babak Panahi said: “Having already seen workflow improvements with Sectra’s enterprise imaging solution, expanding our partnership was a natural next step.

“With all AI applications available in one place through a single vendor, and already validated by Sectra, who also takes full responsibility for implementation and operation, made it far easier to move from curiosity to reality. This will remove much of the complexity and time investment for us, enabling us to benefit from AI from day one.”

Sectra's comprehensive management of the workflow, which includes integration, deployment, hosting, and support, significantly alleviates the IT workload for UMG Göttingen.

UMG Göttingen initially entered an agreement for Sectra's enterprise imaging services last year.

Sectra’s AI service forms a part of this solution, which offers a cohesive strategy for complete imaging requirements within a single system, thereby enhancing outcomes and reducing operational expenses.

Using a vendor-neutral archive (VNA) at its core, the solution's scalability and modularity enable caregivers to expand their services without the need for a new backend.

In May, Guelph General Hospital in Canada began implementing the digital pathology module of Sectra, aiming to enhance diagnostic capabilities and workflow efficiency.
