Terumo Health Outcomes (THO) has entered a distribution agreement in the US with Caretaker Medical, a digital health company.

The partnership focuses on providing hospitals across the country with VitalStream, a wearable hemodynamic monitoring platform by Caretaker Medical, enhancing cardiovascular care with 'smarter' patient monitoring technologies.

VitalStream’s non-invasive platform can deliver real-time physiological data, offering continuous blood pressure and haemodynamic monitoring.

Caretaker Medical CEO Jeff Pompeo said: “We’re excited to partner with Terumo Health Outcomes to deliver impactful solutions for the early identification and improved treatment of shock and heart failure.

“Our VitalStream platform’s capability to deliver real-time, beat-by-beat physiological data – including continuous blood pressure and hemodynamics through a comfortable, non-invasive wearable – is central to this.”

The collaboration between THO and Caretaker Medical is set to enhance patient care in high-acuity cardiovascular settings, such as catheterisation laboratories and cardiac step-down units.

By providing clinicians with the tools to identify changes sooner and respond with confidence, the partnership aims to eliminate the need for invasive lines and reduce the reliance on bulky wires, thus enabling timely and accurate interventions.

THO operates as a division of Terumo Interventional Systems (TIS), which offers a suite of interventional devices that augment the predictive insights offered by THO's ePRISM technology.

ePRISM supports medical professionals in pinpointing patient risk and optimising treatment strategies, whereas, the advanced tools from TIS enhance procedural efficiency.

This synergy is designed to empower clinicians with informed decision-making capabilities, leading to streamlined procedures, reduced hospital costs, and shorter recovery times.

TIS president Ghada Farah said: “Clinicians need reliable, non-invasive options for continuous monitoring, particularly in settings where invasive lines aren’t feasible or desired.

“Caretaker’s VitalStream technology fits our mission of delivering tools that support earlier intervention and more informed decisions, while also helping hospitals improve clinical workflows and patient safety.”
