Trustwell Hospitals in Bengaluru, India has announced plans to expand its facility to a 250-bed hospital with the addition of 100 new beds, The Economic Times reported.
The hospital, which is operated by a group of healthcare professionals, is investing Rs250m ($2.92m) in the expansion.
This hospital expansion is expected to create 150 new jobs.
Priorly a retail outlet, the 130,000ft2 facility was transformed into a healthcare institution.
While the facility is EBITDA positive, it is yet to achieve net profitability, a senior executive noted.
Trustwell Hospital chairman Dr HV Madhusudhan said: “Trustwell Hospital is a unique venture where the people who understand the needs of a patient are also the ones running it.
“The current lead team of doctors come with a combined experience of over 200 years. The hospital has a team of about 90 doctors and has invested Rs1bn.”
The expansion will encompass various specialities, including radiation oncology, PET CT scans, heart and lung transplants, robotic surgery, and haematology and bone marrow transplants.
In addition to the expansion of its existing facility, Trustwell Hospitals is also planning to open two new units in South Bengaluru.
This strategic move is aimed at meeting the increasing healthcare demands of the region and international patients seeking treatment in specific specialities.
Dr Madhusudhan added: “As we enter the sixth year of our birth as a hospital in the heart of the city, the baby steps we have taken have paid us notable dividends and we are motivated to take the next step by adding services & equipment.”
