US-based Independence Blue Cross and Carallel have partnered to launch a new programme that provides support to caregivers of Medicare Advantage members who have been recently discharged from the hospital.
The programme offers a variety of resources, including access to advice, support groups, practical assistance, and planning tools, in addition to connections with Carallel’s Care Advocates.

Independence medical director for government markets Heidi Syropoulos said: “Through our work with Carallel, we are able to ‘show up’ for caregivers who ‘show up’ for our members. We want to support them when they need it, so they can support their loved ones with confidence.”
The programme is designed to help caregivers build resilience, create a manageable plan, and handle complex tasks.
In addition, it will provide caregivers with access to educational and collaborative digital tools.
Independence claims that the programme has been well-received by caregivers who have enrolled, with approximately two-thirds of caregivers who have completed the programme calling for ongoing support.
