It will include an emergency and urgent care department, in-patient beds and a day surgery unit, as well as short-stay medical assessment services.

In addition, it will provide pathology, pharmacy, and medical imaging services; outpatient and ambulatory care services including paediatrics, renal, maternity services and women’s health; and a virtual care health hub and hospital in the home services.

The hospital will make healthcare more accessible to the communities of Rouse Hill, Tallawong, Schofields, The Ponds, North Kellyville, Riverstone, and Marsden Park.

Its design features wards with mountain views and includes a multi-storey car park, with easy access to public transport.

The project is expected to create about 1,200 jobs during its construction period, with the potential for thousands of indirect jobs across its life.

It will be one of the first to implement the NSW Labor Government’s full campus model, which integrates health worker accommodation and childcare services.

NSW Minister for Health Ryan Park said: “There is a long history of undelivered commitments from the Liberal-National government with this project dating back to 2015. We won’t make the same empty promises and we’re getting on with the job of delivering this A$700m hospital for the community in North Western Sydney.

“We are committed to providing an additional 600 hospital beds for Western Sydney, and the new Rouse Hill Hospital will account for about half of this.”

The Hospital forms part of a broader A$3bn investment by the NSW government in new and upgraded hospitals and health services across Greater Western Sydney.

Additional investments include an A$1.3bn project to build the Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital on a new site, an A$550m redevelopment for Fairfield Hospital, an A$350m redevelopment for Canterbury Hospital, and an A$120m expansion of bed capacity at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.
