With the Certificate of Occupancy secured, the hospital enters its final phase of preparation. This involves onboarding clinical and support staff, installing medical equipment, conducting mock-code safety drills, and completing licensing and accreditation inspections.

Riverside Smithfield Hospital chief medical officer Dr Justin Billings said: “From the earliest days of planning, the people of Isle of Wight County have shown extraordinary support for bringing this hospital to life.

“Their voices helped shape this project, and their belief in Riverside helped make it possible.

“We know how much this hospital will mean to the families who live here—for access to emergency care, for life-saving treatment, and for the peace of mind that comes with knowing world-class care is just minutes away.”
