Encompass Health and Lee Health subsidiary, Lee Healthcare, have partnered for jointly owning and operating two new inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Southwest Florida in the US.
Lee Health’s board of directors had granted approval recently for the investment in this partnership with Encompass.

Of the two hospitals, a freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital is being built in Cape Coral at 1730 NE Pine Island Road.
This new 40-bed facility is anticipated to be opened in May this year.
The second 60-bed freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital will be built at Fort Myers.
This facility on the Gulf Coast Medical Center campus of Lee Health is slated for opening in 2024.

By GlobalDataLee Health plans to move its current 60-bed rehabilitation unit at Lee Memorial Hospital to the Fort Myers hospital, once it commences operations.
Encompass Health president and CEO Mark Tarr said: “Lee Health is a well–respected healthcare leader that has been serving Florida residents for more than 100 years.
“Through these inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, we will work to provide patients with coordinated and connected care that meets them where they are in their healthcare journeys and makes a positive difference in their lives.”
Inpatient rehabilitation hospitals offer care to patients who are recovering from debilitating conditions and injuries in addition to local acute care services such as those provided by Lee Health.
The conditions include strokes and other neurological ailments, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations.
Apart from 24-hour nursing care, such hospitals also provide occupational physical and speech therapies to patients to regain functional ability and improve their quality of life.
