The UK’s healthcare industry registered a 5.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring a decreased by 8.29% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the healthcare industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.46% share in August 2021, recording a decrease of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s healthcare industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.79% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s healthcare industry in August 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 57.14% in August 2021, registering a 29.82% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 16.07% share, a decrease of 22.41% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 14.29%, registering a 47.37% decline from July 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 5.36%, up 15.38% over the previous month.

Top five healthcare companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 18.64% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s healthcare industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

AT&T posted 24 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 166.67% over the previous month, followed by Dai-ichi Life Holdings with 21 jobs and a 54.35% drop. Oracle with 17 IT jobs and Zurich Insurance Group with 17 jobs, recorded a 56.41% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Cisco Systems recorded an increase of 142.86% with 17 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.21%, down by 30.51% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.36% share, registered a decline of 41.1% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.64% share, up 12.5% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.79%, recording a month-on-month increase of 25%.
