Canada’s healthcare industry registered an 8.4% drop in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.77% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the healthcare industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 0.83% share in December 2021, recording a decrease of 0.08% over the last three-month average share.


Top five job classifications in Canada’s healthcare industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 102.13% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry in December 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 29.79% in December 2021, registering a 36.36% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 25.53% share, a decrease of 47.83% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 19.15%, registering a 125% rise from November 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 19.15%, up 80% over the previous month.


Top five healthcare companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 7.69% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

Alberta Health Services posted 19 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a drop of 24% over the previous month, followed by Penticton Regional Hospital with 11 jobs and a 175% growth. McKesson with 6 IT jobs and Trillium Health Partners with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Vancouver Coastal Health recorded an increase of 200% with 3 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.47%, flat growth from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 12.77% share, registered an increase of 20% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.77% share, down 45.45% over November 2021.
