The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital (BMSCH) at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in the US has announced its new Children’s Same Day Services centre, aimed at providing specialised outpatient care for young patients.
The facility is designed to offer private care for children requiring regular, non-oncologic infusion therapies as well as light sedation procedures, with plans to expand to sleep studies in the future.
It was made possible through a $2.5m donation from the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, part of a more than $20m contribution over the past 24 years.
The centre offers five private treatment rooms, which encompass a sensory room specifically established to support and calm children during their treatments.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital chief administrative officer Kelly Chaknis said: “The Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation has been an outstanding partner over the years, and their significant contributions to our children’s hospital are a testament to their commitment to children and their belief in BMSCH’s ability to deliver the highest levels of care and improve the health of our communities.”
The outpatient infusion centre will cater to a wide range of paediatric conditions, from gastrointestinal and rheumatologic disorders to neurologic problems and genetic conditions.
