US-based Christus Health has initiated construction works on a new $84m hospital in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The new Christus Muguerza Los Cabos Hospital is expected to enhance healthcare services for the region’s residents and tourists.

Christus Health president and CEO Ernie Sadau said: “We are thrilled to expand our presence in Mexico and provide world-class health care services to Cabo San Lucas, a region that attracts nearly four million visitors a year.
“Christus Health is recognised in both the US and Mexico as an exceptional health care provider that has earned the trust of the communities we are so blessed to serve.”
The hospital aims to serve the healthcare needs of more than 350,000 local residents, including over 23,000 citizens in the US.
Scheduled to open in 2028, it will feature 75 beds and span over 450,000ft².

By GlobalDataNearly 30 medical specialities, including oncology, cardiology, and neurosurgery, will be available, alongside specialised clinics.
Christus Health will incorporate advanced technology at the new facility.
Innovations will include a virtual assistant for obstetric nursing, post-surgical pain prediction and control algorithms, and AI for imaging analysis.
Architectural company Fernando Romero Enterprise (FR-EE), which is led by architect Fernando Romero, is designing the Christus Muguerza Los Cabos Hospital.
The project will integrate local materials and textures, cultural elements, and artistic installations that will resonate with the identity of Baja California Sur.
In addition, the hospital will focus on energy efficiency, featuring heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and lighting systems. Its construction will also include the use of sustainable materials.
Upon completion, the hospital is expected to employ 250 specialists, clinicians, and other associates.
Christus Muguerza Health System general director Horacio Garza Ghio added: “We put our patients and their loved ones at the centre, providing compassionate care not only focused on physical but also emotional and spiritual health.”
As a division of Christus Health, Christus Muguerza Health System runs 15 hospitals across seven states in Mexico.
