A joint venture (JV) between Encompass Health and healthcare system Piedmont has opened the new Rehabilitation Hospital of Athens in Georgia, US.
This new 40-bed facility is designed to assist individuals recovering from significant injuries and conditions, such as strokes and spinal cord injuries.
The hospital is equipped with private patient rooms, a therapy gym with advanced technologies, and a suite for activities of daily living.
The hospital aims to provide care, including a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy over five days each week, as well as regular physician visits and round-the-clock nursing support.
Rehabilitation Hospital of Athens CEO Loretta Rice said: “The compassionate, high-quality care we provide in our beautiful new hospital will help patients reach their rehabilitation goals and return to what matters most.”
The facility’s amenities are designed to enhance the recovery process, featuring an in-house dialysis suite, a therapy courtyard, a dining room, an in-house pharmacy, and dayroom areas.
An interdisciplinary team, comprising therapists, nurses, and physicians, will deliver physical, occupational, and speech therapies, focusing on restoring patients’ functional abilities.
Encompass Health South Atlantic Region president Ronnie Wagley said: “Both Piedmont and Encompass Health have a proven track record of quality and patient satisfaction and are united in our mission of providing specialised care, close to home.”
The Athens hospital joins an established network of rehabilitation facilities under the Encompass Health and Piedmont JV.
The partners have also revealed plans for an additional hospital in Loganville, Georgia.
This latest addition marks Encompass Health’s 167th inpatient rehabilitation hospital and its eighth in Georgia.
Last July, Encompass Health and Piedmont unveiled the Walton Rehabilitation Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, marking the expansion of their JV arrangement.
