Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) Government has unveiled the master plan for the Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment, inviting community feedback on the proposed enhancements.
The government is investing A$550m ($351.12m) in the project, aiming to provide the Fairfield community with improved integrated healthcare services.
NSW health minister Ryan Park said: “The release of the master plan is a critical stage when the community can have a first glimpse of the shape of the project and what it has to offer, as well as providing their valuable feedback.”
The master plan showcases the redevelopment’s vision, illustrating its integration with current health facilities and allowing for potential future expansions.
A redevelopment zone has been identified at the front of the existing hospital, where new clinical facilities could be located, fostering integration with current services.
The proposed new clinical services building, to be situated within this zone, will have its scope confirmed in the next planning phase.

In a pioneering move for NSW Health capital works projects, light scanning technology has been employed to obtain the measurements of the hospital buildings.
This technology utilises a body-worn scanner to create instant, accurate floor plans, thereby speeding up the data collection process. It captured information on 600 internal spaces within just six days.
The South Western Sydney Local Health District is in the process of identifying clinical priorities for the redevelopment.
Timelines for the construction will be announced after the engagement of a builder.
Additionally, a re-elected Federal Albanese Labour Government has pledged an extra A$80m for expanding the hospital’s emergency department.
This redevelopment is part of a broader A$3.6bn investment by the NSW government over four years to enhance hospitals and health services across western Sydney.
Fairfield member David Saliba said: “The Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment will support an estimated 1000 jobs with the potential for supporting thousands of indirect jobs throughout the life of the project.”
Earlier this month, the state government allocated A$2.8m to enhance paediatric palliative and end-of-life care services.
