Glytec, a Massachusetts-based provider of cloud-based insulin management software, has launched the next evolution of GlucoMetrics to offer new analytics, dashboards and data visualisations that enable hospitals and health systems gain new insights into glycemic outcomes.
With the enhanced visibility, hospitals will be able to prepare for new measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on extreme hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia that promote facilities to report metrics, beginning early next year.
Glytec chief medical officer Jordan Messler said: “CMS is making it clear that hypoglycemia related to insulin is largely preventable, and early treatment and optimal management of severe hyperglycemia is a priority – but it is hard to enact and measure this type of change without access to data or the expertise to turn that data into actionable insights.
“Most hospitals have no way of easily looking across their facility to understand how effectively they are managing patient blood sugars, and being able to look across an entire health system is even more rare. These enhancements to GlucoMetrics take a significant step towards providing the insight hospitals need to start asking – and answering – important questions.”
GlucoMetrics is powered by data drawn from Glytec’s eGlycemic Management System (eGMS), which is centred on Glucommander.
An EHR-integrated, HITRUST-certified, cloud-based software solution, eGMS supports personalised insulin dosing decisions right at the point of care.

By GlobalDataPhysicians, care providers and nurses who use Glucommander can ably support their patients to get into target range faster, and ensure they remain within tighter parameters and see fewer insulin-associated adverse drug events than those patients treated with other regimes.
Due to enhancements to GlucoMetrics, glycemic management committees and hospitals can have self-serve access to important performance indicators, trends and benchmarks associated with glycemia treatment across their entire health system.
Furthermore, GlucoMetrics comes pre-configured with six interactive dashboards to help provide insights at both a macro and micro level. These dashboards include: GlucoMetrics; treated vs untreated; blood glucose measurement timeliness; patient stays; patient days; and blood glucose values.
With quarterly updates, Glytec will continuously add new features, functionality and metrics to the platform that will enable hospitals to get further insights to guide and inform quality improvement projects.
