The Government of Indonesia has announced plans to expand the Dr. Hasri Ainun Habibie Regional Public Hospital located in the country’s Gorontalo District in Gorontalo Province.
The project, which involves the construction of a new inpatient building, is set to enhance the hospital’s existing capacity and services.
According to Indonesian news agency ANTARA, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed the development plans on 24 May, in the presence of Gorontalo Province’s Regional Secretary Sofian Ibrahim, the hospital’s director Dr Fitriyanto Rajak and other officials.
A special budget of Rp25.9bn ($1.6m) has been allocated this year for the expansion project of the hospital, which is managed by the provincial government of Gorontalo.
The new building, which is named Menara Bumi Gorontalo Sehat, will be a five-storey structure showcasing local cultural elements such as the Karawo embroidery.
Its first floor is designated for fund assistance recipient (PBI) patients, featuring four inpatient rooms with a total of 20 beds, alongside a laboratory, nursing room, a pharmaceutical room, praying room, literacy room as well as several other essential facilities.

By GlobalDataThe subsequent three floors will provide an additional 60 beds for both PBI and non-PBI patients and include medical facilities like an action and isolation room, along with dedicated spaces for discussion and consultation.
In addition, the top floor will cater specifically to VIP and VVIP patients, offering 18 beds and several advanced medical amenities.
The inpatient building development is expected to complete within the next 225 days.
ANTARA quoted Sadikin as saying: “We still need an additional budget of Rp50bn ($3.1m) expected to be acquired this year or next year in order to accelerate the development, as development works that take a long time to conclude usually end up being unsuccessful.”
